Hear No Evil Book Giveaway and Review!

Hear No Evil

By Matthew Paul Turner

Imagine living in a Christian upbringing so strict that music is the only thing that allows you to experience a bit of freedom in your life. In Matthew Turner’s book, Hear No Evil, we get to experience from his perspective, what his life was like growing up in a strict Baptist home. Where all types of music except what was played in the church was off limits. How do you think this may have affected your life?

Matthew takes us through his decision to allow music in all formats to influence him from a godly perspective where he truly believes that God wants him to be the next Christian Michael Jackson. We see the struggles on how his family deals with this decision and how even Christian artists such as Amy Grant we viewed as worldly and not from God by his community.

This book was fun to read to see just how each and every style of music was viewed from different religious groups and how Matthew finally sees what God’s purpose was in his life using music along the way.

Author Bio:

Turner has written for Relevant, HomeLife, Christian Single, and other magazines. He and his wife, Jessica, have one son, and live in Nashville, Tennessee. this sounds interesting...and kind of like it used to be in my church when I grew up as a kid...I don't remember much, but my sisters tell me they were considered rebels 'cause they were listening to radio sometimes...Of course, now the picture is totally different since Romania is not a communism country anymore... Thanks for doing the giveaway, I'm sure it's an interesting book!:)

I'm amazed at the influence that music really does have in our lives. :) The older I get, the more I realize it and it has greatly effected what we let ourselves {and our kiddos} listen too!

I have been asked to leave Baptist Churches. In fact one church sent a Deacon to the parking lot to tell me I should restart my motorbike and go. I never even made it into the Narthex. Somethings never change. Religion causes more damage than most people realize. Sorry if I offend any Baptists in the audience. That is not my intention. Be well and be blessed.

What a book so many parents need to read. My oldest son said that those Christians who grew up in the strictest homes were the wildest ones at college. They were not allowed to discuss without condemnation. My guys can bring music into the house but that music is discussed and if it is "r" rated it is not allowed to be played in the house. A good rousing discussion and debate over music et al usually deflates the real reason for the choice: rebellion. I remember going over every Def Leppard song with my son because he just didn't believe each song was about sex. All I had to do was raise my eyebrow and he'd concede. I didn't hear much Def Leppard after that - because it's kind of embarrassing listening to it when you're moms there.
