Urgent Prayer Request Required for Ken

Here's the latest on Ken's progress and which is the reason I am sending out this prayer update:

Ken hasn't shown any significant improvement since being on the antibiotics since Thursday. His lungs remain the same with 94% of his left lung functioning and very little of the right. His doctors were able to complete the CAT scan yesterday as well as a biopsy of his lungs and the good news is there, that what they were looking for, came back negative.

Yet with no change in his overall status, they decided to change his antibiotics to something much stronger called Zyvok and Rocephin now since the others weren't working. He also has a condition called Merca? Not sure of the spelling. It's a bacteria that works against the antibiotics that lies dormant in the body. That's his biggest challenge, so the doctors say that within 2-3 days they should see some improvement. We are hoping for something by tomorrow.

If any of you can provide me with any details of this, I would gladly appreciate it. They have also reduced his oxygen flow in the ventilator from being at 100% to 60%. His wife is not doing to well emotionally as I am sure you can imagine, so please add her to your prayers as well. Her name is Tina. She has taken this week off to be there as much as she can.

I will keep you posted as I get more updates. Please keep him in your prayers that these series of antibiotics will work and he will begin to show improvements in his pneumonia and his right lung will show more improvements.

Right now we have had some severe thunderstorms here and not to mention that, I work up with an abscess in my tooth and once the infection clears up, it's off for a root canal. Still believing in God's timing and powers as always.

The infection he has is MRSA, which is Methicillin resistant
Staphylococcus aureus. It's an infection which we are seeing more and more often, and it's dangerous because it's resistant to many antibiotics. However - now that they know this, it will help them to treat it and is probably why they are changing his antibiotics.
I'll keep praying for Ken - and also for you and the tooth.

One thing for sure the rain from that storms has been pouring at your house. Kat, I wish I could do something to help. You are such a strong believer and yet seems you are faced with more than you anyone should have. Whatever is God's will, it will be done. We must remember, what we want is not always what HE wants. Bless you my friend and your family. You are bound to have a crown full of stars.

Let's just pray for your BIL's immune system to be stronger to fight off this infection or MRSA. Praying for the antibiotics to work and help him. And for your SIL and you...God bless you and protect you all...

I'll continue to pray particularly regarding this most recent MRSA news. I know that can be a difficult complication and hopefully this new drug can fight the infection. Take care Kat!

There are now medications available for MRSA if it's caught in time and it sounds like it was. I'm continuing to pray for Ken.

Kat,

Praying still for Ken and won't stop. Praying as you specified and also as the Holy Spirit leads. Praying for his dear wife Tina as well.

I just said a prayer for your tooth as well. I've been there and it's not easy. May your family be safe in all those storms too.

Much love!
