Sleep, It Does A Family Good!

What’s the one thing every family needs more of but can’t seem to find time for? Sleep!

With the ever-growing responsibilities and obligations that families face today, we’re seeing an unprecedented level of sleep deprivation among moms, dads, and even children. The effects of sleep deprivation are serious and can affect us physically, mentally, and spiritually. But what can we do about it?

In Sleep, It Does A Family Good, renowned psychologist Dr. Archibald Hart comes alongside families to offer help and hope for those in desperate need of more rest. In a clear and credible format, Dr. Hart explains the vital role of sleep in our lives. He goes on to offer advice and practical suggestions on ways to ensure every family gets the sleep they need. The fact is that by making a few key changes to our hectic schedules, we can become refreshed, rather than exhausted. By using Dr. Hart’s tools and advice, every family can experience firsthand the truth that a healthy family is a well-rested family.

This is the excerpt from the back cover of this amazing book that I believe everyone needs to read. I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book to review for Tyndale House Publishers and applaud the effort to address this situation that is occurring in families everywhere.

We learned first hand how sleep deprivation can affect relationships, marriages and daily ability to function on the job and ways to avoid losing sleep. The tips and assessments contained in the book are outstanding and can help you assess your own or your families individual sleep needs.

Sleep...I can't sleep right now after hubby left early for work! I just take this opportunity to talk with my Daddy, the best thing to do when I'm deprived of sleep, I'm being filled by Him. Take care sister Kat! God bless.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but I hope this book is never marketed in the West of Ireland because to be brutally honest, if we were any more relaxed the country would just slip into the sea and we'd all float away to la-la land!!!
That's an exaggeration I'm sure but here a lot of people certainly don't have the same pressures that folks have in cities or trying to hold down multiple jobs to stay afloat financially, except if there's a newborn baby in the house, but I think that's NOT what you are referring to!

And how is your health doing now that you are over the initial trauma of the surgery, anesthetic and anxiety?

Now that is definitely one book I need. I have a hard time sleeping. Trust me, I know first how hand how not enough sleep can affect you. I have tried a lot of different things, but still have a hard time getting the rest I should be. I am not one for taking drugs. I will survive though.

I totally agree with this theory! I can always tell when someone in our family is lacking some good old ZZZ's...totally changes their personality!

Right On...a good nights sleep is wonderful.
I don't sleep well often, too much anxiety sometimes. I go to be and mull over every problem I can think of....and then some.
Plus my hot flashes and night sweats keep waking me up
and going to the potty
do you see a pattern here

Oh girl...I could totally use some more sleep. My kids fight it so bad and I am exhausted by the end of everyday. If they are not ready when I am ready for them to be...I get cranky.

I reviewed this book too. It was so interesting and just proved what I've been telling my family for years. We are sleepy!!!

I know this first-hand! I struggle frequently with insomnia (thank you, hormones)and sometimes feel as if I'm walking around in a daze. It's amazing how we are affected from lack of sleep.

Great review!

Oh, yes - sleep deprivation is not a good thing. My husband snores - loudly. And I couldn't sleep. When we went to a sleep dr., they treated both of us as a patient because loud snoring negatively affects the health of both spouses.

Years ago I invested in a Galaxy fan. I highly recommend one if you have a loud snorer. I even take one on vacation! It sounds nuts but it works.

What a wonderful book to encourage healthy bedtimes, also!
