America is a Christian Nation!

If you truly want to know about History, go back as far as you can. In fact anything prior to 1927 would be a great placeholder as most of what we now know as history, has been washed clean of what is really all about American history and the students today are getting a far different view of our nations history than what our grandparents were taught. It is a filtered version of what they believe should be taught and not what really happened.

Little by little, what we know to be true and what we are told is true is vastly different, so it is no wonder that this next generation and those coming afterwards will have a different version of our nations history than ever before.

I had the wonderful pleasure to sit in our church in Calvary Chapel Chino Hills yesterday with my 17-year-old daughter and get a taste for what is truly a remarkable reminder of our nations foundation as a Christian nation. Don't let the government or our educators fool you for one minute. Do the research yourself and discover what is missing from what is being taught to this generation. Most millennials don't even understand the three branches of our government and what their limited powers really are and why they were established. It is understandable to face confusion when our judicial branch takes on the legislative powers and creates their own laws without the consultation of the people.

We have fallen so far from the biblical values that this great nation was founded on and instead are willing to take what is spoon-fed to us from our nations leaders instead of really understanding what is happening around us and watching our freedoms, rights, and liberties one by one, slowly being stripped away without any protest from the American people. You can't even get American's anymore to agree that this is and has always been a Christian nation. You have stanch liberals telling you that religion and politics don't mix but that is precisely how this nation was born. Using the Bible as the standard for setting up a government and creation of laws is how this all came to be. It is when you have a leader or a king who takes it upon himself to usurp his authority, that the American revolution came into existence.

We still see remnant of this in things like our nations seal, which many overlook or the various places you will find Bible Scriptures all over our nation's historical places. The liberals would have you believe that most of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were deists and atheists with a handful being those who supported the Bible and that is so far from the truth.

America was born when religious men and women came from England in search of religious freedom from King George the 3rd. They wanted the right to worship as they saw fit without a country telling them how. In fact it was just this issue that caused our Founding Fathers to draft the Declaration of Independence to take back their rights and freedoms from King George the 3rd who was acting like a tyrannical leader even though he was separated by the colonists by a vast ocean.

The great seal of our nation was a creation by the brilliant minds of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Around the great seal were the words,"Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God." It shows Moses (in the dress of the High Priest) standing on the shore, and extending his hand over the sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm Pharaoh who is sitting in an open chariot, a crown on his head and a sword in his hand. Rays from a pillar of fire in the clouds reaching to Moses, to express that he acts by the command of the Deity. This is found in the Bible in Exodus 13.

Three of the five drafters of the Declaration of Independence and three of the defining faces of the Revolution, Franklin, Jefferson and Adams, proposed that Moses be the face of the United States of America. In their eyes, Moses was America's true founding father.

If ever history knew an indispensable man, George Washington was that man. When the 13 colonies needed leadership in the War of Independence, The Continental Congress chose Washington. When liberty seemed lost in the fall of 1777. Washington kept soldiers in the field. When independence lapsed into sectional conflict after the war, the framers asked Washington to chair the Constitutional Convention. And when the new republic elected its first president, again the natural choice was Washington.

"Congress will look upon them as their own Children...You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are. Congress will do everything they can to assist you in this wise intention." ~ May 12, 1779, George Washington.

"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." John Jay, October 12, 1816, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

"There can be no political happiness, without liberty; there can be no liberty without morality; and there can be no morality, without religion." ~ Historian David Ramsey

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports." Farewell Address 1796, Washington taking Presidential Oath on the Bible.

It is interesting to see and research the Founding Father's faith in this great nation, of which so many fail to acknowledge its Christian foundational beliefs. If you just do the work yourself and open book after book, you will see that there is no loss of facts that will line up with the truth. Just the abhorrent truth that is being told to us regarding the truth meaning of the separation of church and state has got us all in a tailspin. You would think the justices and leaders of this nation would really understand what it means and how to enforce it, instead of stripping away the Ten Commandments from our government buildings and prayer from our schools. These are the very nature of what made our nation so great to begin with. It's not like these things suddenly showed up in these places, they have always been the foundation of our education system when no such curriculum existed. Students were taught from the Bible.

The Ten Commandments and the Bible were the basis for the creation of the laws we have and the system of justice and government we have in this country today, although that is rapidly changing for the worse so that it no longer resembles what it used to. Our three branches of government are no longer staying within the confines that they were established and the rights, freedoms, and liberties we have are slowly being taken away with minimal protest. From the erosion of our families, religious freedoms, and even the inalienable rights guaranteed to all men and women.

All along America has been created using the Bible as our moral compass and the pastors of the church as our facilitators to making that truth apparent and accessible to all. Yet if you look at the America today from the foundation of this nation, it looks vastly different in its foundation and that is not how the Founding Father's today originally planned it would be. But it is the knowledge of the people that is being undermined, and it is that ignorance that is changing things that should never be challenged, because people are willing to be led instead of realizing that all of this nations leaders work for us. Not the other way around.

As we celebrate the 4th of July, I would encourage you to realize that America is a Christian nation, despite what this nation's leaders would have you to believe. America has a chance to become great again, but it is only with the help of Christians and American's working to unite together and make it so under the leadership and guidelines found in the Bible under the leadership of God and Jesus Christ.

Remember the freedoms we have are not without a price, they were paid for by the sacrifices of brave men and women who realized this, so that this day, you can celebrate this day thanks to the blood of those who believed in these truths. Happy 240th America!

“Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?” - President John Quincy Adams

"God cannot sustain this free and blessed country which we love and pray for unless the Church will take the right ground. Politics are a part of religions in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as a part of their duty to God."
- Charles Finney

As cultures go, the future can be predicted if we look at the generation that is being raised now. For the most part, that can be a pretty bleak picture unless we pray and seek to do all that we can to reach the next generation for Christ Jesus. There is hope if they follow Him.

Let no one despise your YOUTH, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
- 1Tim. 4:12-13

Politics Don't Mix with Religion!

One of my favorite Pixar movies to date, is A Bug's Life. Not just for the animation but for a powerful scene in the movie when the grasshopper's who are just a handful, run the ants into submission but always providing enough food for them so they don't have to work and can enjoy their time off. They know that if they can keep a tight rein on things and ensure that no one stands up to them, they can continue they way things have been without any issue. Yet when one single ant stands up for the entire colony, the grasshoppers have to take action otherwise their comfy life is about to change forever.

That is just what is happening in our cultural as Christians little by little and why is that? Because we have become like ants and allowed it to happen. I have seen well-meaning Christians turn into what I will candidly call, "Wishy Washy Christians." They do this, because they don't want to be seen as someone making waves, rocking the boat or taking their religion into the workplace, or in government or schools.

As a Christian, the one place we can let out light shine is coming up in November, when it comes to this year's election. I believe the powers that are running things want us to continue to be like ants and not stand up to the grasshoppers in leadership. We choose to sit this one out, like we did last year because we don't like either of the candidates running for office. Here's something to consider, whether you vote or not, one of them will become president! You need to get off your apathetic stance and vote biblically for a candidate. To not vote is to vote for one of them. A politician who supports killing unborn babies is not something you can sit out. A politician who is willing to forgo the national security of this nation is not something you can afford to sit out! To let our returning service men and women to be treated less than homeless people is not something you can afford to sit out! Vote as biblically as you can for those who are running and stop trying to justify sitting out this vote. That IS just what the grasshoppers are hoping.

We live in a world today where things that are happening around us make us wonder, why should the Christian even care? Politics when it comes to the Christian is what is debated everywhere, from family gatherings, workplace lunchrooms, and in every form of social media. There are those who would say we shouldn't mix religion with politics, then what should you mix politics with? What does religion mix with? Are you saying that nothing should be mixed with our Christian faith? I would argue that everything should be mixed with our Christian faith! God invented government. How we live really matters, more so today, than ever before.

Acts 17:28 ~ "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, "For we are also His offspring."

Paul the apostles argument was simply thins, that there is no place on earth, in life, where the Christian is not to be a Christian. That there's no sphere of influence that the Christian is not to be engaged. Wherever we go, God is... There is no place where we are exempt from being Christians!!! We are Christians 24/7/365. We don't leave our faith at the door when we enter our homes, our jobs or political debates. The Bible should be the example for us on how we should live our lives.

Proverbs 29:2 ~ "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan."

Jesus Christ gave the Christian a cultural mandate and that is first and foremost to share the gospel!

Matthew 5:13-16 ~ "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who see in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works an glorify your Father in heaven."

We are to be public Christians, not private believers. Where is Jesus to be Lord in your life? YOU are the light of the "WORLD." It means you are to let the WORLD see your light! We don't leave Jesus out of our lives. Are you living out your Christian faith every single day?

Why should the Christian care? Because we have a responsibility to God? We've all heard the saying, "Don't be so heavenly-minded that you are no earthly good." But I think that the modern day, 21st Century church is so earthly minded that it is rarely heavenly good. It's all about how big it can get, how much money is can bring it...what kind of Christian is that? It looks good but it doesn't do anything.

The Christian is to be a public witness in his world, everywhere, anywhere, because we care! You might be saying as a Christian, you're not going to vote in this election. How can you even say that? As a Christian you're called to be involved! That is a horrific manifestation of a fancied up form of apathy. You can't do that. You can't go there. Let me give you some things to motivate you, because it has motivated me. There is a day coming...

2 Corinthians 5:9-11 ~ "Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences."

As believers, we come from a long line of culturally impacting people, cultural crusaders, people of God who influenced governments in the realms of politics or governments... Daniel, Esther, Jeremiah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, even Paul used his political-civic opportunity to appeal to Caesar. They didn't worry about the separation of church and state, that doesn't even exist, yet many cases have been tried and won over something that doesn't even apply and millions are still believing it. Why don't you look it up for yourselves instead of being spoon fed what the media and the people in leadership are telling you?

We should all take up causes that are biblical and that is the very reason to vote in any election. There will be no perfect candidate running for office that appeals to everyone, so stop looking for one. Imagine what kind of political campaign Jesus might have in the world today if he was running for office? He never serve in the military so how can he empathize with what the military needs. He doesn't attend all the public places and dine with dignitaries and celebrities? He doesn't lead a political campaign aimed at winning anyone to His side. He hangs out with the worst of humanity and those that won't make a difference in the world of politics. He's homeless. He has only worked for his father's business as a carpenter. His parents weren't even married when He was conceived. Face it if Jesus were running today, He wouldn't even make it to the primaries!

1 Timothy 2:1-2 ~ "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."

Did you catch that? We are to pray for all our leaders and people in positions of power. This is the biggest religious tolerance by Christians over anyone. We don't kill those who don't agree with our world view. We persuade men, not dictate, not coerce, not pressure, but by presenting a better argument. We've grown so weak in our arguments that when we feel ourselves losing, we pull out the "you hurt my feelings" card.

Christian pastors are commanded to be the cultural watchmen on the wall and Christians are to follow their pastors lead. We just need to make sure that our pastors are following Jesus and biblical truths. If not, get out! Find a safe place! The pulpits are alive because they have accountability to God.

Acts 20:26-27 ~ "Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God."

Those who hold political power exercise their opinion (they're not suppose to, they're suppose to exercise your opinion) over the will of the people. Our leaders are suppose to listen to us, and do the will of the people. Why have judges overthrowing the will of the people. Why did they ever think they could do this? Because we gave them the green light! Because we never speak up! They know they can overthrow the popular vote on an issue, because they know you won't do anything about it. We begin to be governed by a few, rather than those in government answering to us, we the people. If they can get Christians to simply throw in the towel and not vote, then they will win just like they did 8 years ago.

I'm proud to be an American, but the America in front of us now, is an America I don't recognize. Don't you think we need to ensure that our vote, the one we fought for the right to have, is counted? If you don't vote, it still counts and we all have to give an account to God for the choices we make. Consider looking at the candidates and see where they line up biblical on the issues that are important to you. How do you stand for traditional marriage? How do they stand up for our military? How do they stand up for our country? How do they stand up for our nations security? How do they stand for the rights of the unborn child? These are what you should be using as a Christian voter to vote for the candidate who most closely lines up with the biblical truths, not simply if they are a Christian or not? A woman or not?

Time for the ants to realize that the grasshoppers are hoping that you will simply look the other way and opt out, to stay quiet and just go back to church and stay there.

Why Should I Follow Christians? You Shouldn't!

Sometimes Christians can be the worst example of what our relationship with Jesus should look like! I've even heard some non believers call out the behaviors of Christians and asking them to explain their hypocritical actions or words. Not a pretty sight and perhaps one that defines why so many people run when you tell them your a Christian. In fact, no other religion is dissected as much or held up to such high standards as that of a Christian. Why is that?

First of all let us gain an understanding of what being a Christian really is? It is NOT a religion. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus we are instructed to act in certain way that everything we do, say or even think, points to Christ. This is why others are so quick to judge our actions, words or even thoughts against those standards. Even they understand what we are so quick to defend.

However, we are forgiven when we fall short and trust me, we ALL fall short every single day. We are in no way perfect, but the world expects us to be. This is where we can all be a whole lot more humble in accepting criticism from others.

We ALL still live in a world filled with sin, which means that Christians are tempted in the very same way that unbelievers are, whether it's through addictions like smoking, alcohol, drugs, sex or even dealing with things like emotions such as anger, sadness or even impatience.

The Bible says that ALL have sinned which means every single one of us, even Christians still sin. Romans 3:23 (NIV) "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," However there is a difference in believers, which means we simply need to realize it and ask for forgiveness and attempt not to sin again.

Well you might say that you're a good person, you don't do anything wrong, you live a good life and help others whenever you can. But the Bible is very clear that just being a good person doesn't get you into Heaven. Only a belief in Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made in your behalf, a confession of your sins, and a willingness to live a different life will gain you a place in heaven. There is NO other way. None. John 14:6, "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you don't like that statement, you'll have to take it up with Jesus, not other Christians. We follow what Jesus says because we believe the Bible and that it is the Word of God.

So what do you say to all those who call Christians hypocrites and that we shouldn't follow them? You agree with them. The Bible states clearly we are NOT to follow other Christians, but to follow Christ. He is the only person who lived a perfect life. All others will merely fall short of that perfection in this world. Jesus Christ is the standard we are all trying to live our lives more like. Let's make sure that everything we think, do or say speaks loudly of what Jesus Christ is doing in our lives and truly points the way to Him.

Matthew 16:24, "Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."

Love Books?

Sorry if the title appears a bit misleading but it's not on the subject of love, but rather some great books I have come across that are based in the Christian Faith. Before I started walking in the right path with God, I loved things that were based on the supernatural and almost anything by Stephen King. I loved being so involved in a book that I simply couldn't put it down. If you are like me, but want to remain in the right faith with God, let me point you in the direction of some amazingly talented Christian writers and their books!

1. Frank Peretti! He is the Stephen King of the Christian Faith. Amazing as well is that three of his books have already been made into movies that the secular crowd isn't even aware are Christian based movies. His most recent novel and also a movie is called House. It starts off with a tin can that is tossed into a house where 2 couples are staying. On the can are written three rules to the game and the last one is NO ONE can leave until one of them dies! I won't spoil the ending or even most of the story line but the house at that point is sealed until the final rule is met! Enjoy and you might just want to leave the light on for this one. Love the book, then go check out the movie!

2. Left Behind, the entire adult series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B Jenkins. I believe it consists of a grand total of 12 books that take you from a writers perspective in what happens when millions of believers are suddenly raptured to be with Jesus in heaven and what happens to those that are "left behind". The book follows the book of Revelation which as has fascinated me and takes you right up to the glorious conclusion in the end!

3. Silenced by Jerry B Jenkins - by one of the same writers of the Left Behind series. It takes place when the world has decided to end all religious practices since it is the reason why countries to go to war. It is now a crime if you are caught and the sentence is death. It involves a Dr Paul Stepola who is a double agent that has his faith in Christ but also working for the government which is now called the National Peace Organization. What will he do, when faced with signing a degree that will expose him and make him a outlaw?

4. This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti. Again another outstanding story and it's sequel that takes place in a town called Ashton, where Good versus Evil is struggling to win out. What is unusual about this book is the duality in which you not only see the struggles with the townspeople but also what is going on in the unseen realm with angels and demons! Definitely will make you wonder what is really going on in the realm we can't see!

I will keep you posted on some of the other novels as I come across them. Please feel free to post your recommendations or comments! I would love to see them.
