In Honor of Memorial Day

MEMORIAL DAY

It is the
VETERAN
,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,

not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,

not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the
VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the
VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the

VETERAN
who
salutes the Flag,

It is
the
VETERAN

who serves
under the Flag,

ETERNAL
REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON
THEM.

Kat, thank you for remembering. Blessings.

Everything you posted here is very poignant. The most touching is the man in the wheelchair standing for the flag, as others remain sitting on the curb. Their behavior is most disappointing, but the veteran is way admirable.

I got these e-mails too and thought they were touching. I have one of the comics set to go up later.
Hope you all have a nice day tomorrow.

Great post!!! I liked the next to the last cartoon, especially. What a price they paid for our freedom. I am so thankful to each and every one of them.

What a neat way to remember those that have served and died for our freedom. I liked your presentation for this special day very much. Bless you special lady today and always. I am into the second chapter of my book. I trust it want be heartbreaking as the first part. When I read, I put my myself in the book with the characters. I feel right along with them.

This is an awesome post! My dad was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and he would march in parades with other veterans.

We would take the kids and stand up as the vets walked by and clapped.

One time, my son (about 8 at the time) asked why we were standing up and clapping (no one else was)

I said it was out of respect and gratitude for all they did in the name of freedom. The guy next to me heard me and he and his whole family then stood up and clapped along with us.

Thank you so much =) We're very thankful.

And living in the UAE, I hadn't realized today was Memorial Day! Oh my goodness. I wish we honored veterans more all the time, and the Lord they feared.

The cost of freedom is measured in the number of people who are prepared to fight for it. The rest of us appreciate it, or we ought, but we'll never know the real cost to the people who fought. Thank you for this post. The sarcasm in the humour as well as the words, both are needed to stir us.
