Is anybody happier because you passed this way?
Does anybody remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over and it's toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's dipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said;
Does the person whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or lose it?
Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today."
Does anybody remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over and it's toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's dipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?

mom,
i remember reading this poem in not only youth group but also in school.
it is one of my favorite poems. it does not use descriptive language, or go on and on with elaborate detail. it's simple, but inspiring and its readers can actually take something away from it, and apply it to everyday life.
there's no "reading into" or "analyzing" this poem, which is another one of the many reaosns i love it so much.
this has reminded me of all the things i am capable of doing in a day, that could positively affect someone:)
thanks for the reminder!
i love you:D

Great Poem Hun Hun! I like how it asks us really deep, important questions like do we help other and if not why not. I love your blog and thinking!
Love Ya!

I just found your blog and love it. Right now I only had time to read the two most recent posts. You are exactly right about our personal space. There just isn't any. I'll be checking back soon and have added you to my blog list.
God Bless,
Mimmy
I love your post. It really gets to the heart of the matter and is truly inspiring. Blessings, SusanD
That is just beautiful Kat, and so true.

Love it!!! Thanks for sharing it!
I love this! I was teaching my youth class tonight about how one single act of kindness can mean so much to people...even the little ones.....and would you rather be remembered for being kind or mean, cause people will remember you either way you go!
Hugs!!
Great reminder and that pic is awesome! Blessings.
What a great poem...it definitely caused me to pause, thinking of my day. I'm not so sure I was the person I should have been. We moved our oldest son back into college today. We were pretty focused on doing THAT, and not on the people around us.
Thanks for this very timely reminder...I needed it!
Dear Kat,
What a beautiful picture, and the words of the poem stir my heart.
My morning is half gone, and as I look back to yesterday, thank God, I know He has a smile for me.
Loved this post!

We spent the evening with the kids sharing Colossians 3. Bearing with one another with compassion, love, kindness...forgiving one another etc. Discussing how we have Christ within and do we see Christ in others....love it when what you see,hear or read flows hand in hand! Great confirmation!
Love you
Great questions! What a better world it would be if each of us asked ourselves those questions each and every day. My mom used to say this, "Be sure when you leave a place, it's a little better for you having been there." I carry that saying with me...don't always remember to heed it, but I carry it with me, nevertheless. :)
Kat,
This picture and post touched me deeply. I am blessed to have come this way, today. THANK YOU.
Please pray for my hubby. His uncle is dying with pancreatic cancer. We went to the hospital this evening so he could spend some time in ICU with him. I do not think it will be much longer before the Lord calls him home.

I remember reading this awhile ago and thought how profound yet simple it was. I thought it was beautifully expressed.
Thanks for your comments on my blog today! :)
I love this poem! I haven't heard it before. Very thought provoking.

I can honestly say that I made at least two people's day yesterday. I had a very interesting discussion about being happy and so I posted about that today.
Don't take for granted the opportunities we are given. For sure!
That was great and you area always a blessing to me!
That picture was just breathtaking.
Love the picture. Beautiful. Also enjoyed your Thankful Thursday comments.
I love to think that I make some kind of difference in every person's life that I come in contact with. Letting the Life and Love of Jesus shine through me, even if it is only in a smile.
Great poem Kat!
Kat,
