Broken Giveaway!

So this is how it ends.

Staring at a stranger, blood on your hands, silence coating the house.

Everything has led up to this. This, here and now. This empty waste. This utter disappointment. This predictable conclusion.

You taste blood on your tongue from the cut on your lip. Crimson smears the pale satin.

Amazing how your hands remain calm. Unshaking, unwavering, even after what they've done.

Somewhere not far away is a gun that fired two bullets, the second doing its job. Somewhere a voice gently, quietly tells you what needs to happen.

You need to find the gun, Laila.

Those eyes staring at you. You've seen them before, somewhere else, many times before.

You need to clean up and find the gun.

For a moment, the water underneath your hands pours out. So steady, so seamless.

And then it gently caresses.

You wince.

Hard as you try, tears don't come.

You stare at the stranger in the mirror, wondering where childhood disappeared to, wondering where those hopeful eyes wandered off.

Clean up and get in there, then get out.

The faucet flows, and the slight stains of blood that are not yours drip over the ceramic.

For a moment you glance into the bedroom. A room you've never been in before today.

A dead body crumpled on the floor. Seconds counting before the silence ends and more men come.

You look at this stranger and know.

This is where it ends.

This is where it all stops.

Turning off the water, you step out and start your life all over again...(excerpt from pg 1-2)

In the book, Broken by Travis Thrasher, you meet Laila, a girl that had it all - love, family, wealth and faith. But when her faith crumbles, her world falls apart and Laila finds herself living in an empty, dangerous life as a call girl in Chicago.

Yet when she is threatened, Laila shoots and kills a client in self defense sending her on the run and haunted by her past. When she is approached by a stranger who says he knows what she did, she has no choice but to keep on running.

Scared and wandering, will Laila regain her trust in God to protect her from these demons? Or will her plea for salvation come too late?

I was provided with these amazing Christians suspense thriller compliments of Hachette Book Groups, Faith Words division to review. Again, along the lines of Stephen King, you find yourself transported by to New Orleans with Laila as she outruns the past and the voodoo that surrounds the town itself. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery thrillers based in Christian faith, then this is a must read for you.

Broken, so appropriate Kat. Thank you for this review.

Golly me! That sounds like you'd have to read it in one go, if it continues as it starts!
I think that the journey of faith is a fascinating place. So many people see 'being saved' as the end of the road, but its the beginning of a new road, and one that's not always easy to stay on. That's what would interest me about this book and its heroine.

I love the title of this one. Man, Kat, where do you find the time? I usually find spare time on a bus or an airplane, but that's far and few between...

Hi Kat,

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog today. I feel the shift in those who are hot and those cold. Thanks for the encouragement and prayers. Appreciate your visits and kindness.

You don't need to include me in the book giveaway. Only because right now, I don't have the extra time to read extra books. I'd rather you bless someone who can get to it sooner than I can. I have a few stacks of books I'm reading right now for my book writing. :)

Sent postcard this week. LOL. I eventually get around to doing what I say I will do. Turtles are slow. :)

Hugs,

Tiffany

Page 1 & 2 really grab a person. I had no idea there were Christian Surpense Thrillers and I am so tickled that there are. I am most interested in the Christian aspect, finding the Lord in yourself again and knowing He never left. But I do like good suspense thrillers also.

I am a new follower. What interests me in this book is the raw pain that is expressed by the character. I would like to see what hope is offered by the author. Is it godly or wordly? Does it make a difference and turn this person's life around? I think we have all been there when things looked hopeless but God always provides a way out and a measure of hope.

Hi Kat,
Your blog is loving and filled with hope. I came because Sara was linking to your prayer request. I love knowing that I am uniting my faith with others in a good cause.

This book sounds interesting to me and I am particularly interested because I believe that God loves "broken" things.
