An Army of Ordinary People

No matter where you are in life, you can serve God right there. In this revised and updated edition of An Army of Ordinary People by Felicity Dale, shows how God has always used – and is still using – ordinary believers like you to carry out His work in simple ways throughout the world.

This inspiring collection of real-life stories introduces you to ordinary people who’ve practiced “simple church” – in their own homes, workplaces, or neighborhoods – and the remarkable things that have happened as a result. You’ll meet people instrumental in leading others to God – even helping to free them from addictions or the stigma of the criminal pasts; parents teaching Bible lessons to kids; a couple inviting their neighbors over for dinner and conversation. You’ll see the gospel spreading, and lives being changed.

And the only question remaining is: Are you read for your own story to begin?

This was an interesting book for me to read in light of my own soul search to find what I feel is the kind of church we, as our family, needs right now. Too often I feel that churches get “too big” in ways that they can no longer look to take care of individual needs of members that are attending their church. They simply don’t have enough resources available.

However, like the Book of Acts, instructs the building of churches that involve families of two or more members being actively involved. It takes the scripture, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” – Matthew 18:20 and begins to build small churches, whether in homes, schools or the work place. This way, the intimacy of the church stays intact. When a member is in need, the members of this church can rise to the occasion and help like the smaller churches did after Jesus’ death. I loved reading about how God blesses these people who are finding ways to do the will of God within their own homes to keep spreading the good news of the gospel of the Bible.

I would encourage everyone to pick up a copy of this book and see if there isn’t a way to incorporate some of these ideas into your own churches, ministries or youth groups. I received a copy of this book, compliments of Tyndale House Publishers.

I think your very first sentence said it all! SO very true!

Have a beautiful Mothers Day Kat!

I too like your opening sentence. In today's time of "mega" we often forget that God use some of the least likely people to advance His Kingdom. Sounds like a great book.
