One Nation Under God....Indivisible!

Yup that is the part of the Pledge of Allegiance all of us should make sure is included as we take our oaths whether at school or an event such as a baseball game. Too many people are offended by those words yet just 8 years ago it is where every American citizen found themselves praying that fateful September day.

It was the one day, prayer was back in schools again, in homes, and in government buildings. There was no one to argue whether prayer was in the wrong place because simultaneously everywhere that day everyone was praying. Praying for answers, praying for hope, praying for understanding amidst the deep and sometimes inconsolable loss. Yet we were all lifting our voices up as one united country that for one solid day stood indivisible!

We would not be victims of the worst terror attack on American soil, we would rise like a phoenix from the ashes and become victorious. We would as a nation unite like never before to find our enemies that wished us harm. We would unite to help those tragically affected by these events. We would unite as families and draw closer to one another. Neighbors actually spoke to one another and in some ways we began to look out for one another. American flags were everywhere. Races and religions were united that day, the day when everything stood still and silence filled our skies and roadways. Fear was brief as we all remained confused and lost for answers at how this could happen. Yet hope prevailed and prayer were answered. People came together as never before in this blessed nation to rebuild and to remember.

Even today, though those united feelings may have changed and those patriotic ways are now tucked away like our flags we once flew, it is time to remember. It is time to unite once more. It is time to fly your flag and let your neighbors everywhere know you are proud to be a American and this will remain one nation under God....Indivisible....forever!!

Kat,

I have shared myself today and have read many sharings of the heart from other precious bloggers that have blessed me but I have to say that your message has bubbled up in my spirit and overflowed into Amen's! and tears!!

I have NEVER heard your voice but for some reason as I read your words I could hear you -- your heart and your passion for GOD, people and our country.

You've encouraged my heart this special day of remembrance and prayer.

Love you.

I was thinking about that this morning. As horrible as that day was, it did unite us, God was spoken of and people prayed.
Great post!

Hmm. Had a hard time getting into this comment hall today. Wouldn't let me in, I clicked, no entry...

Anyhoo, I was thinking about how people turn to God in times of complete....complete....knowing- not- where- to turnness- I'm having some word troubles today. But the point I'm trying to get at, is - it's just like it was in Biblical times. How frutstrating for God, but also how glorifying- isn't it strange- sort of?

No idea if this will make sense to anyone, but me...Thanks for posting this, at any rate.

Thank you for these wonderful thoughts. We need to be reminded of how we all felt on that day and that we must remain proud of our contry. Although we may disagree with some of the things that are going on inside of our borders, we much never lose sight of the fact that this is the greatest nation in the world. We much fight for the right, but only fight with the sword of the Spirit and only carry the shield of faith.

Again, thank you for visiting my blog and for your very kind words of encouragement. I hate it that it has been so long since I have visited you. I wish that there was enough time for me to both post and read everyting that everybody else has written, but I am learning that I must pick and choose. Your blog will always be at the top of my list because you always speak with such honesty and faith.

God Bless,
Mimmy

I am a Candian blessed to be living in America and have just received a treasured permanent residency green card! When I go to baseball games I sing your anthem. WHen I go to public ceremonies I say your pledge. Often times I think I say it with more pride and patriotism than the Americans standing around me. You have been sold a lie...that America is hated in the world. It is not true. America is admired and longed for!
It is the land of hope and possibilities
Thank you for posting this !

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Remember also, that while those buildings collapsed and Americans died. there were people in the world who cheered and rejoiced openly. Sorry, I am much more than a flag waver...

Kat, this post is awesome! I am proud to be an American. I love what Cynthia said about not believing the lie that America is hated. I do not believe it is true. I believe that we are admired and longed for. I believe it is the land of possibilities. One nation, under God! This was so great!
