A Day At The Fair

WOW, are the temps climbing from where they were just a few days ago. Remember when I told you about temps being in the mid 70's with the crisp coldness to the air, well yesterday was a far cry from that. We topped out at 100 degrees while attending the fair with virtually no shade available on hot pavement. Even though we arrived at 9:30am, we tried to get to as many exhibits as the kids wanted to see.

Our all time favorite has to be the Big Red Barn! It's just another indicator that my family has missed their calling in life. I firmly believe we were meant to have farm animals because we fell in love with all of them.

Here are some of the pictures. This one was one of my favorites as I love cows and these are the little ones that you could pet. Their eyes are just so beautiful and I love their pink noses. I am a sucker!

Next came the llamas and as we captured here, this one had the most incredible blue eyes you've ever seen. Their fur was super soft and fluffy. These were Caitlyn's favorite!

Another fun thing we did at the fair was the Toyota exhibit where the kids could climb in and play with the cars that they wanted to see. This is Caitlyn in her hybrid Prius. Shes our environmentally friendly person in the family. Mine was the gas guzzling but ultra luxurious Sequoia!

One of the last things Kailee wanted to try was sawing a log in the Great Outdoors exhibit, and I think she discovered it isn't a easy as it looks.

All in all, we spend most of the time in the farming area seeing all the cute goats, lambs, horse, chickens, cows, horses and pigs and while on the way home, we all agreed that at some point we want a small farm. We are off to the beach today so will update you with pictures tomorrow. So how was your weekend?

Sounds like you are having a great weekend, and with temps that high the beach is the place to be. It was really hot here this week, but today it's back to being in the 60's.

We were having a terrific time! I always enjoy the state fair in my hometown Pueblo. We have not had a chance to get down there in the past few years but I always love checking in on all the animals. Hugs Anne

Sweet days; simple times. There's just something about a fair that makes me think of Norman Rockwell (and taffy & scones).

Looks like you all had a wonderful time at the fair! It's always fun to get your fill of the fair at least once a year. Hoping some of the cooler weather returns for you soon... after all it is fall. ;-)

Thanks for you comment over at Art's Chili Pepper.

we have been very chilly here, only the past 4 days have we got into the high 60's and low 70's. I am relishing every moment.

I've heard that it's hot in California! Glad you all are headed to the beach! Sounds like fun!

I lived in the high desert for 21 years and never went to the fair. The farm animals were adorable. I also like the llama!

That was a fun fair visit, in spite of the 100 degree temps.

It sounds like you had fun at the fair! I always enjoy seeing the animal exhibits, too. I enjoyed a day and overnight with my grandchildren at our house this weekend. It was a rainy day, so we did crafts, read stories, baked cookies, and put puzzles together.

Ha! I love that your daughter was the environmentally friendly one. My weekend was good, thank you! Had some friends in from out of town and toured them around NYC/NJ. Hope the start of your week is great!

That was a great day even through the temps were SO HOT! Wish we could have stayed a little longer to have the kids do some fun stuff, but it was just way too hot!!

Love You!
