The Plan A Woman in a Plan B World

When I was a little girl I dreamed of the life I would live when I got older. I would marry a handsome man, have a few children and live in a great home and live happily ever after.

No where in that plan did it include, watching my own parents get a divorce when I was seven, leaving home and being homeless at 17, having an abortion at 17, getting married at 21, divorced at 32, married again at 34, and going through numerous job lay offs while hoping to keep everything intact. Sound like your life at some point? Which one fits with your current day to day lives?

Plan A or Plan B?

If you wanted plan A but instead got Plan B, how can you move through all those negative feelings of wanting something better, something more?

In the book, The Plan A Woman in a Plan B World, Debbie Taylor Williams does just that. This book is designed to help women deal with what to do when life doesn't go according to plan.

What I enjoyed about this book is the simplicity of the concepts to move through the challenges that really get us women, bogged down. Wanting things better for our family, our friends, our homes and most importantly our marriages. There are issues within our lives that Debbie, calls landmines, and unless we can learn to find them, diffuse them and render them useless, we will unfortunately find ourselves devastated by their effects if they go off.

She deals with things like fantasy and imaginations, wishing your life was one way and not the way it currently is and how dangerous that can be to not only our physical selves but our spiritual ones as well.

Debbie's book really does give you insights into all kinds of circumstances we face tied to biblical scripture to help move us from being failures into success stories and living a life God intended us to live.

I received this book compliments of Kathy Carlton Willis Communications to review and really found it helpful at this time where once more, my life isn't going as planned. If you would like more information on this book, the author or where to purchase your copy, click on the link below:

Into The Storm

"The temperature had begun to drop. The freezing rain now became snow. Lionel wailed as he was beaten by the pounding waves. His shirt caught on splintered timber and ripped like strips of paper ribbons.

He flailed, trying to escape the restricting lines. With each kick, his trousers felt like heavy canvas wrapping around his legs. The water felt like ice. His leg muscles started to cramp - wet knots pulling tight -until he was certain they would tear apart. The cramps spread to his arms, his back and neck. It felt like dozens of knots, then hundreds, then thousands. His body felt like it was ripping. He howled with rage!

"Alicia! Luke! Where are you?"

There was no answer but howling winds and hostile waters.

The swirling snow mixed with the icy foam and stinging spray. Finally his heart began to feel as though it was cramping too. There was no strength left in his body. It had no capacity to answer the commands of his brain or the wishes of his heart. Despite his will, he could summon no strength. Ropes snaked around him, coiling around his neck, his arms and ribs. The depths sought to swallow him. His precious wife and innocent son had been stolen.

Lionel Lukin closed his eyes and surrendered to the will of the sea." (excerpt from pg.16)

In the book, Into the Storm by Jon Steven Nappa, you will be taken to a 19th century fishing village in England to discover what becomes of Lionel Lukin and his family. It is based on the true story with a fictional story woven in between much like the movie Titanic. This book blends the Perfect Storm, Message in A Bottle, and The Guardian all into one fabulous, can't put it down until you have reached the final page. I have discovered treasure once more, and I am super excited to share it with you.

Trust me if you can picture those three movies combined into one amazing book, based on fact, you know you have a great book to keep. This is a must read for anyone who loves romance, suspense, and fishermen.

I received this amazing book compliments of Kathy Carlton Willis Communications to review and I loved it! If you would love to know more about this book, the author and even where to purchase a copy, please click on the link below:

Life's Too Short To Miss The Big Picture

168 Hours makes one week. 52 weeks make a year. A few years makes one life. We frequently don’t see it or feel it – but we sense a profound change in the air. It’s as though the sand beneath our feet is shifting. What used to be common sense is not so common anymore. What many of us thought was solid rock has become shifting sand. Such drastic changes stir in us a growing sense that there is more to living than what money can buy. That life is too short to miss out on what is truly important.

How many of you have read the book, Life’s Little Instructions? I know it’s been a long time favorite of mine, and each year, I even get the calendar. It’s whimsical and offers some great things to thing about for that day. When I got the opportunity to review the book, “Life’s Too Short to Miss The Big Picture” by Steve Diggs, compliments of Kathy Carlton Willis Communications, I felt a similar connection.

This book provides you quick insight into some things we should all take a little extra time doing and the best part, is that it is written for Christians. Through a series of short, unique “Life Notes”, Steve Diggs helps you push aside the daily stresses and worries, and guide you toward making the most of what’s important. He will help you realize that life ahead looks good. You will learn to awake with a smile, and drift to sleep with a contented heart. This is a book about excellent living. You will learn how to make the time count, slay the dragon and never miss The Big Picture.

Some of the topics discussed are:

  • Counting Your Blessings
  • Become a Beautiful Listener
  • Help Meet the Needs of Others
  • Choose Where to Put Your Faith
  • Lead With Your Heart
  • Live In The Real World
  • Be A Cheerleader

There are 70 of these amazing topics that Steve takes you through. My favorite was Counting Your Blessings. If you have ever watched White Christmas, there is a part in the movie where Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney are sitting in the hotel restaurant because she can’t sleep. Bing sings the song, “If you are worried and you can’t sleep, try counting your blessings instead of sheep, and you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings.” Basically it’s about how to turn lifes’ lemon moments into those spiritual lemonade ones.

They Almost Always Come Home ~ Book Review

I rise from the couch and part the sheers on the front window one more time. Still quiet. No lights on the street. No Jeep pulling into our driveway. I'll give him one more hour, then I'm heading to bed. With or without him.

Leaning on the tile and cast-iron coffee table, I crane every thing in me to look at the wall clock in the entry. Almost four in the morning? I haven't even decided who will sing special music at Greg's memorial service. Don't most women plan their husband's funeral if he's more than a few minutes late?

He's never been this late before. And he's never been alone in the wilderness. A lightning bolt of something - fear? anticipation? pain? - ripples my skin and exits through the soles of my feet.

The funeral plans no longer seem a semi-morbid way to occupy my mind while I wait for the lights of his Jeep. Not pointless imaginings but preparation. I should tell him a lot of things. And I will.

If he ever comes home.

To read even more they you will definitely want to pick up a copy of this amazing book due out in May 2010!

I received a complimentary copy of They Almost Always Come Home by Cynthia Ruchti from Kathy Carlton Willis Communications to review. I was hooked, partially because when I read most fiction novels I can generally tell how it will turn out, but not this time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great novel to read over Spring or Summer Break.
