Lunch In Paris?

Ever wonder what would happen if you mixed Julia Child and the movie, “Under the Tuscan Sun” together? You would have, the book I just finished reading called Lunch In Paris By Elizabeth Bard!

In Paris for a weekend visit, Elizabeth Bard sat down for lunch with a handsome Frenchman – and never went home again.

Was it love at first sight? Or was it the way her knife slid effortlessly through her pave’ au poivre, the steak’s pink juices puddling in the buttery pepper sauce? Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard, is a memoir abut a young American woman caught up in two passionate love affairs – one with her new beau, Gwendal, the other with French cuisine. After packing her bags to begin a new life in the most romantic of cities, Bard is plunged into a world of bustling open-air markets, hipster bistros, and size-two femmes fatales.

She learns how to gut a fish (with a little help from Jane Austen) and soothe pangs of homesickness (with the rise of a chocolate souffle’) and she develops a crush on her local butcher (who bears a striking resemblance to Matt Dillon).

This book is an amazing read for anyone who has longed for the desire to just pick up, leave and move to Paris! Woven wonderfully at the end of each chapter are the most amazing recipes of everything from appetizers to main courses, to “death by chocolate” desserts! What more could woman ask for a cook book and love story all in one!

Hi there, This sounds like a great book and how fun that you get to read new books-something I would love to do. The book sounds like it would be a great gift as well.
As for picking up and just going-hum-I'm right where I want to be but vacations are always welcome...like someday getting to Ireland and of course my upcoming trip to the islands.
Have a wonderful week.

Hmmmm. If I were "running away" where would I run ? ? ? ? That is tough, but, I think I would try Italy. I've never been, but it looks like an amazing place to get lost!

Choosing a place to escape and live is tough. Warm and tropical or "Old World?" I'm going with sandy beaches, clear blue water, palm trees. Oh yes....sign me up! lol. Blessings, SusanD

My honeymoon (well, and wedding...but that was an hour outside) was in Paris!! I love France so much.

But if I were to run away, I think I would run away to Cambodia. It's hard being white when you're there, but I absolutely love that country!

Well lately I have had a few of those days. I think I would like to get into my car (with Skye) and visit family and friends as I travel from California to the East coast.

If I could just up and leave I would go to Norway. I have lots of relatives there and a family farm in the northern area named Sumstad. I would love to take my husband there for a summer.

Since I just won, don't enter me again. It sounds good though!
Guess what I found in my mailbox a few minutes ago? The books! They both look good and I know I won't be the only one reading them. Thanks for the cute notepad and pen too! I really appreciate you doing this!
PS - I'm still praying!
